We arrived quite late and got the tent set up just as it was getting dark.

Arran supervising as I make dinner.

Saturday morning was a bit misty around Ben Nevis.

Exploring Inverlochy Castle.
Inverlochy Castle.
We're across Loch Linnhe in the sunshine, but it still looks a bit misty in the glen where the campsite is!
The very end of the Caledonian Canal - the last locks before the sea.
Arran and I biked 27km along the canal and back in the sunshine. It's pretty flat, and the towpath is well paved and smooth the whole way.
Lunch stop.
The first manmade section of canal ends here at Loch Lochy.
Heading back past the Moy Bridge, a swingbridge as old as the canal itself, and for the benefit of a single farmer to access his land which spans the waterway.
We stopped for a rest and saw a plane flying past quite low. Arran and I waved on the off chance the pilot would see us. Immediately the planes wing waggles back, and then the pilot did several laps round where we were doing loops, barrel rolls and other aerobatics. It could be pure coincidence, but it felt like we were getting a private aerobatic show!

Chocolate biscuit stop.

The basin at the top of Neptune's Staircase.
The hilliest part of the ride was alongside Neptune's Staircase, a flight of 8 locks and the longest staircase lock in Britain.

The Glenfinnan Monument
The Glenfinan viaduct, with the Jacobite steam train passing over (also known as the Hogwarts Express). We saw the train at Inverlochy Castle earlier too. We didn't plan it at all - just happened to be in the right place at the right time!
Glenfinnan Viaduct - still sunny!
Arran enjoyed scrambling on the rocks at the viewpoint...
...and above it!

Morning on the campsite.
Castle Stalker, from our 15km bike ride along the Appin coast.
A lunch stop watching the tide race through the narrows at Creagan.
Lunchtime selfie.
The last selfie of the trip, just as we got in the car to come home. We had a lovely time, and we listened to Roald Dahl's "Matilda" as we drove through spectacular Glencoe in the sunshine on the way home. A fab end to the weekend.
