On arrival, we had a beer in Union Square as part of a plan to acclimatise to the time zone.

Saturday we set up for the show. Unfortunately our projector didn't survive the journey, so we trekked around town to find a replacement.

Then to reward ourselves for our hard work, we went for dinner at an Italian in North Beach. Afterwards we ended up in a bar with a very strange band, but very pleasant patrons.

Sunday was my first day off, so I grabbed a Cable Car across town.

I walked up the Greenwich Steps to the top of Telegraph Hill, which was a good workout. On the way, I saw this beekeeper in one of the gardens.

Tuesday's excitement came from a transit of Venus over the sun. You might just be able to make out the tiny black dot at the top and slightly to the right... After this was a good night out at a reception, then a party, then a pub, then a party, then a pub...

I was out for dinner with some new friends tonight. I grabbed this misty sunset over the bay from Fishermans Wharf. Unsurprisingly, dinner was followed by a trip to the pub...

Thursday I travel home later, but I have time for a quick trip to Alcatraz Island first.

There is a huge amount of greenery on the island, and it was a beautiful sunny day. Unlike inmates of old, I was rather sorry to say leave and head home!
