A lovely weekend away for Ruth and I. Drifting sportscars at Silverstone, a wander round Warwick, and a visit to Stratford-Upon-Avon.
An early start, but I arrive on time at Silverstone: "The Home of British Motor Racing".
Westfield - toy for the day.
Promising tyre marks... Looks like fun!
This car has a 1.6l engine from a Fiesta, but weighs only 700kg. So it goes some...
Cones are set out in a slalom - ready for some drifting action.
Spare tyres, spare fuel. Both are consumables in this game.
Driving gets underway, everyone is tentative at first.
Starting to get the car going sideways...
I get strapped in and briefed. My own car in the background looks (and is) sedate by comparison.
A muddle of cones to negotiate.
Finding my way around.
Getting the car a bit sideways now! However, "Power is nothing without control".
Definitely not going in a straight line here...
Posing.
A wee puff of tyre smoke - I must be doing something right!
Suspension on show.
Tyres seem to wear out pretty quickly doing this...
Helmets are obligatory since we're messing around...
Note how all the cones have black tyre marks on them.
It doesn't really say "Westfield" now does it. Must try harder.
Burning some more rubber.
Ooops. I managed not to do this, but more by luck than judgement.
This cone was used as the marker for a world record number of donuts set recently by Westfield - over 200 in one go!
One of the professionals demonstrates how to abuse rubber.
A more sedate afternoon strolling around Warwick.
Warwick Castle, where I believe some of "Merlin" is filmed for the BBC.
Old houses in Warwick.
Jumbled.
The local emblem is a bear chained to a tree with no leaves...
The pavement goes right under this building.
Shakespeare's Birthplace.
The Garrick, a rather delightfully crooked old building.
Halls Croft.
Hall's Croft, home of Shakespeare's daughter.
A tiny but many spotted ladybird thought Ruth was a flower! I agree :)
