Presents arranged in front of the fireplace in our room once we unpacked.
We decided to go for a walk in the snow...
...and take some photos in some of the same places as our wedding photos - only a bit colder!
Snow on branches.
It was such fun walking in the snow...
... in the lovely low winter sun.
About 5 inches of snow... Cold on the toes.
Making tracks in the snow.
"Stop" I said, intending Ruth to stop for a photo. Unfortunately the snow was slippy and momentum came into play, causing Ruth to fall right over!
It was even snowing a little.
We're like little kids in the snow.
Kicking snow at each other.
Still kicking snow, or was this when we moved on to the Can-Can?
Writing in the snow. How dreadfully soppy.
More dusky snowy photographs.
Balbirnie House looking very wintery.
Flags flutter in the breeze over the new ice rink.
You can do handbrake turns round the roundabout in the snow...
We look colder than for our wedding photo in the same place!
Afternoon tea back in the warm.
We don't drink tea, but we still gave the cakes a go...
The Long Gallery, scene of drinking after our wedding reception...
Our rather smart bed.
Champagne cocktails before a rather splendid four course dinner.
It's Christmas Day - MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!
Ruth sitting amongst open presents...
...including a photobook of some of her blips...
...and a gorillapod which she's still mastering.
Some of the wonderful gifts I received...
...which Ruth decided to model with.
My lovely Ruth.
We had a huge cooked breakfast so we had to walk it off a little before Christmas Lunch.
Ruth out in the snow again.
A rather old car covered in snow.
A few more golden leaves.
Ruth posing nicely for a photo (brace yourself - there are a few of these!).
Ruth giving me the OK signal.
Ruth showing festive excitement.
Ruth jumping for joy. You can just see her camera starting to fly out of her pocket...
Ruth picking her camera out of the snow...
...and brushing the snow off.
Not everywhere is welcoming...
...but there are plenty of places to walk and take pictures!
The holly looks so beautifully festive with snow on.
Rhododendrons looking rather pretty - don't tell Liz - she spent a long time trying to exterminate these...
Ruth taking more pictures. There is no shortage of pictures from this walk!
Snowy path...
...and another snowy path.
Ruth on a pretty little bridge.
Low sun, dramatic sky.

...and yet more autumnal colours.
Ruth photographying a rather frozen bird bath.
These lawns are where many of our wedding photos were taken.
More champagne as we examine the menu for Christmas Lunch. I go for Pate de Fois Gras, Mulled Wine Sorbet, Turkey, and Bitter Chocolate Tart. Mmmmm...
Champagne.
Her hair looks like liquid gold in the sunlight (or so she tells me).
Christmas Lunch served in the Orangery, the room we got married in. The roaring fire is very welcome.
Someone looks very satisfied!
Gorillapod at the ready.
Nice tart...
...mmm, delicious...
Nice light fittings...

Heading along the Fife coast on Boxing day, Ruth got out the car to take pictures but I stayed inside where it was warm.

A boxing day visit to see my parents and brother - it was great to catch up for more gifts, food and chat.
The next day we saw Ruth's parents, and visited the rather funky Barter Books.
Even here you can't quite escape Christmas decorations. I think I'm all Christmas-ed out now - it's time for a really lazy day or two I think!
