Verna managed to get us some great tickets to see the Boston Red Sox play the Baltimore Orioles for Paul's birthday. Here is what ensued...
Fenway Park! It's night time but it's lit very, very brightly
Play ball!
Plenty of information on the jumbotron, along with some adverts of course.
James.
Ball in flight... I'm betting it didn't get hit.
The "Green Giant" scoreboard.
Fenway Park is one giant retail outlook - guys wander the crowd with soft drinks, hot dogs, popcorn, pizza, peanuts...
...but not beer. That's only available from the many bars.
BIG advertising.
Fast ball.
Someone handed me a baseball cap and took my glasses, hence I look dazed and confused.
RESULT!
Thanks to Verna (or more accurately her cousin) we got to go up to the boxes after the game.
Neil and Ian with a foam finger.
Posing with the green giant in the background.
The 12 of us who made it - Ruairidh had a better offer, and Mubbasher had other things to do.
Group shot and blip
The inside of the box - very swish.
Linesmen repainting the lines and smoothing the sand/clay ready for the next game.
Errr... Yes!
Hosing down the clay.
Everything seems to get covered up...
...to keep it in perfect condition for the next game...
... but for now the last floodlights are out and the park can sleep.
The famous Citgo sign, visible from half the city!
We headed straight over to the bar when we finally left the park. Neil tries drinking with a massive hand. Not a huge success...
Birthday boy Paul with his Red Sox beer.
Martyn broke the foam hand. Ask him and he may tell you the sordid and sorry tale that led to this moment...
Simon and Ian.
Amanda and Rosie, our two guests for the night.
Simon, Ian and brithday boy Paul.
Paul and Rosie. Bless. Events continued after this point until 5:30am....
